Bowls Club

It's now seventeen years since the Bowls Club was formed. We celebrated with cakes and a power cut.

Our A.G.M. went very smoothly and we were very lucky that Brian Smith agreed to remain as chairman. Our committee is a strong one and we are grateful for all their hard work. Sadly Tony Ealham, who has put a lot of time and effort in the club has resigned from the committee due to other commitments. But I bet and hope he will still think up diabolical games for our fun days.

Vicky as usual put on a mouthwatering lunch for all who took part in the Jim Chuffer day. She arranged the raffle so that everyone had a prize. Her generosity knows no bounds. Peter Axcell won the trophy with Peter Debenham runner up.

The Charity match in aid of "Research For Childrens Leukemia" produced a very tight final with Ramsden's team of Carol & Tom Dines, Chris Lewell & Derek Jackson beating Sanguin 4-3.

The two league teams from the Monday session will no longer be known as the A & B teams. A has become the Ramsden Rooks and B the Ramsden Ravens and at the time of writing they are both lying second in their respective divisions with five games to go.

Let's hope no one ruffles their feathers.

Sylvia & Tom won the club doubles with Rita Smith & Eileen Smith runners up. The Ealhams must have more Rose Bowls than Harrods. Well done to all of you.

(OH HOW I LONGED TO SAY THAT)

Our two league teams have excelled in their divisions. The Rooks are ruling the roost having come top in Division 5 and will now move to Division 4. The Ravens are at the moment lying 2nd in Division 6.
