Art Exhibition 2005

We sold 34 paintings and made a profit of approx.. £700. Sadly less than last year, we had to compete with several other exhibitions locally. However ours is the best! We had less paintings submitted than other years.

James could not get his framing done in time and we missed his beautifully large input. You have 10 months Sir!

A new attraction this year was Jan's photographs which caused much comment they were superb. If any more photographers want to display work (must be for sale) I will open a new section for 2006.

Another first was another JAN with her harp. She played twice and created a calm background for the paintings. She was happy to discuss her hobby, (but no lessons).

Peggy came from Clare and displayed her lovely lace. Lots of visitors enjoyed having a twiddle with the bobbins and a proud Gary finished a snake bookmark.

I breathe a sigh of relief when I arrive at the Village Hall on Saturday morning at 8am. This year the halls were full of sunlight, all the pictures were hung, the banners were up, the boards were in place and the first picture is sold.

So many thank yous I am grateful to everybody. Tony and the boys with the stands. Isabel and the girls with refreshments. Pat and Mary on the Top Table. The Rafflers book in from one year to another, and Celia overseas the `hanging' and the Artist's cheques. More importantly the public and friends who attend. All seem to enjoy the happy atmosphere and say so in the Visitors book. Remarks like Magic, Cool and Wicked I notice.

The Children's section was a bit sparse so please save your best pictures for 2006 and let me have them.

Very Merry Christmas to you all.

Yours with a brushstroke - Joan
