Cub Report

During the Summer term the Cubs worked very hard to gain the Naturalist Badge. The first night was held at the Wick Country Park pond dipping (great fun) looking for mini beasts with very large nets. The second evening on this Badge was spent at Norsey Woods, to identify wild flowers, match leaves to trees and you guessed it, catch more mini beasts. This was all supervised by a lovely Warden called Emma who supplied all worksheets, pencils and flower i.d. kits.

Prior to breaking up for the Summer holidays, four cubs worked over a period of six weeks to gain their Chief Scout Silver Award and then moved on into the Scout Section.

One very nice evening in July the Cubs went to Barleylands where we all enjoyed canoeing and archery. Our own District Teams run these activities for a small charge. The evening was a great success.

On the 25th May our Scout Group held our Annual General Meeting and the cubs performed a short play about Baden-Powell- our Founder. After three weeks of rehearsals the result was a magnificent performance. This not only earned the Cubs their Entertainers Badge but more importantly, reminded us about B-P who was a great hero in his time and because of his army life, decided to start our Scouting Movement in 1907.

In 2005 some changes have been made but the same beliefs are still upheld, to encourage young people to go out into the world `To Do Their Best -And Be Prepared'.
