Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought we would be Curling on our Fun Day this year. Surely you need ice for that. Not so. Once again Tony surprised us all.-We had great fun. Maybe we should start a Curling Club.
As you all know its not the done thing to disclose a ladies age. So on her special birthday Winnie invited us all to a lunch at the Village Hall and very nice it was too. Brian presented her with a tasteful piece of lingerie which, judging by the size of it, we hope doesn't fit.
We have had some enjoyable tournaments this year. The Standard of play was very high.-Sylvia & Tom Ealham won the Doubles with Madge & Peter Axcell runners up. Ladies Singles was won by Sylvia Ealham with Isabel Johnson runner up. Must not forget the Men's singles which was won by Ron Bott with Derek Bird runner up. The-Overall Club Singles was won by Sylvia Ealham with Roy Richards runner up.
Kay & Barry celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary this year and not to be outdone, Phylis & Derek Bird, Sylvia & Tom Ealham and Pam & Derek Jackson-celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversarys. 1955 must have been a good year.
By the time you have read this we-will-have had "The Jim Chuffer Day" where Vicky provides us with a wonderful Lunch. We play for a cup which Vicky presents every year in memory of her husband Jim. A lovely man. Its a day we all enjoy.
